VIRAMUNE (NEVIRAPINE), generic is a prescription medicine used to treat Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection (HIV) and is used in combination with other antiretroviral medications to suppress viral replication, improve immune function, and reduce the progression of HIV disease. In some settings, it has also been used to help prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Because it may cause serious adverse effects such as skin reactions and liver toxicity, patients receiving nevirapine require careful monitoring. VIRAMUNE manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma Ltd. In German. NEVIRAPINE has to take orally once or twice daily for the first 14 days with or without food.
