Indication & Dosage: Dacogen (Decitabine), is a prescription medicine used to treat myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), a cancer of the blood/ bone marrow in which the bone marrow does not produce enough healthy blood cells. Decitabine is also used to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Dacogen Manufactured by JANSSEN-CILAG Pharma Ltd. in Holland. Decitabine can be injected once a day for 5 days in a row or injected every 8 hours for 3 days in a row, as directed by the doctor. Patient's treatment cycle will be repeated every 4 weeks if they are on a 5 days course, or every 6 weeks if they are on a 3 days course, and depending on their response to the medication and blood tests. Side Effects: The most common adverse reactions of Decitabine are: Redness/ pain/ bruising at the injection site, nausea , constipation, diarrhea, vomiting , upset stomach , trouble sleeping, hair loss, or muscle/ joint pain.
