Midostar uses and dosage
Midostar (Midostaurin), generic Rydapt is a prescription medicine used to treat certain types of blood cell cancer (acute myeloid leukemia- AML) that is newly diagnosed FLT3 mutation positive as detected by an FDA-approved test. Midostaurin is also used to treat aggressive systemic mastocytosis (ASM), systemic mastocytosis with associated hematological neoplasm (SM-AHN), or mast cell leukemia(MCL). Midostar manufactured by Zydus Pharma Ltd. in India. Midostaurin has to take orally twice daily with food.
Indications
Midostar side effects
The most common side effects of Midostaurin are: Febrile neutropenia (low level of white blood cells with fever), nausea, redness, pain, vomiting, headache, bruising, muscle or bone pain, nose bleeds, hyperglycemia (high blood sugar levels), upper respiratory infection, QT prolongation (abnormal electrocardiogram), diarrhea, constipation, fever.
